day 02
digital detox + tech tidy
[declutter virtual files + media devices]
but first—let’s GROUND & NOURISH
Before getting into today’s specific rituals and practices, lets ground into our morning and nourish mind, body, & spirit by following thE Daily Rise Ritual.
.
.
.
Now that we’ve laid the foundation for a successful flow into the day, return to a quiet space to follow along for Day 02’s guided body scan meditation below.

let’s breathe together.
day 02 // body scan meditation
Find a quiet place to be present for the next 10 minutes.
Sit or lay in a comfortable position.
use headphones or a speaker for a better sound experience.
Press play, close your eyes, and let’s begin.

journal exercise
Return to your quiet place and open your journal to where you last left off
At the top of the page, title this section: "DAY 02 // DIGITAL DETOX • TECH TIDY"
List five digital items [i.e. photos, videos, apps] or five physical technological devices [i.e. phone, laptop, camera, external hard drive] that you are grateful for and how they bring ease into your life
i.e. "I am grateful for my phone because it allows me to have access to our global community at my fingertips"
Now think of five more digital or tech items that you are grateful for, but this time, reflect on if any of these items are possibly taking up too much virtual+mental space moving forward.
List these in your journal, expressing gratitude for how they served you and then RELEASE them
i.e. "I am grateful for these old birthday photos on my laptop from 2018 because they remind me of celebration and good company, but it is okay to let go of these now"
We will actually be releasing these items, whether by virtually deleting and clearing your "trash,” or physically recycling, donating or selling anything no longer of service to us

time to detox & tidy.
Today we’re going to detox our digital space, as well as tidy up any old tech devices lingering in our physical space. This process may be a bit lengthy and possibly trigger some uncomfortable emotions depending on how deep your decluttering process goes. However, it should feel healing to review, reflect and release!
let’s break it down
PART ONE: CELLULAR DETOX
PART TWO: COMPUTER DETOX
PART THREE: Tech device tidy
some food for thoughT
I suggest playing calm/peaceful music during this process [such as jazz or healing frequencies] as this work can be quite mentally draining if you have a lot to go through
Set big and small goals! These tasks are not *intended* to require your entire day, but can possibly take several days depending on each person
It’s more than okay to take breaks and come back to clearing space throughout the day, remember to breathe and rest your eyes when needed!
part one // cellular detox
*Note: Make sure to hydrate & nourish your body with another meal before beginning the decluttering process!
Start with your cell phone
Review your overall home screen(s) and delete any unused/unnecessary apps,
Organize the apps you have left into folders that make sense to you
i.e. category or color scheme
Organize your photo + video albums
Review, reflect, and release any digital memories that no longer serve you [or at least do not need to take up mental/emotional space in your life in 2022 onward.
Remember to empty your “Recently Deleted” folder to fully clear memory on your device.
[PRO TIP]: If you have a hard time completely letting go of digital memories, I recommend getting an external flash/hard drive, or downloading “Google Photos,” which allows you to automatically save media from your phone’s storage onto a Google Cloud for free or small fee depending on storage
Change your lock + home screen wallpapers to peaceful inspirational images that bring you joy
[PRO TIP]: Type positive affirmations or your current dreams, goals, intentions over your image of choice, and save as your lock screen wallpaper so you are reminded of your greatness every time you pick up your phone
Organize your Notes and Voice Memos apps
Delete those old grocery lists and half completed to-do lists!
Clear any old audio recordings or move them into an online storage cloud or external hard drive
Remember to empty your Recently Deleted folders
part two // computer detox
*Note: Remember to breathe! Rest your eyes, stretch, move around, get fresh air if needed. I’m sure most of us are aware of the effects of too much screen time. Let’s be mindful of our intention during this detox process ♡ Please free to return to the body scan meditation whenever you need a break!
If you have a computer or laptop:
Start by clearing your desktop.
If a tornado looks like it flew around your screen, I need not say more :)
Delete any unnecessary icons, images, screenshots from your desktop screen.
If you must keep files on your desktop, try to organize them into three folders max
Empty your recycling bin after this process to keep your system running smoothly.
[PRO TIP]: change your desktop wallpaper to a powerful or inspiring image to prevent you to from allowing it to get covered up by 100s of tiny file icons
Organize your computer’s general folders, documents, media, programs and applications.
Similar to the process for your phone: review, reflect, and release any digital files that are no longer of service to you from now on.
Exit out any unnecessary or idle windows or tabs in your internet browser.
Quit any applications that are not currently in use.
Remember to empty your recycling bin after this process.
Review your email accounts and declutter your inboxes.
Delete any old emails from more than two years ago
Clear your junk or spam folders
Unsubscribe from any unnecessary business or online newsletters
BONUS: If you have any external hard drives, flash drives or memory cards, organize & clear out your files on these devices, as well.
I personally like to create three main folders on my external memory drives to keep it simple, and create subfolders within them accordingly
Light (photos, videos, graphics)
Sound (music, audio files)
Purpose (business files, important docs, files related to personal goals)
If you’re in school, feel free to create an Education folder dedicated to any related documents and files
part three // tech device tidy
If you have any electronic devices or equipment that is broken, outdated, or unused:
Try to either recycle, donate, sell or [safely] dispose of these items
Thank them for their presence and for helping you during your time of use before releasing them
Assess the quality of your current devices that are working and in use:
Clean all screens and surfaces with rubbing alcohol or tech-safe cleaning solution
See if there are any upgrades you have the ability to make to improve your life or business?
i.e. purchasing a new camera lens, investing in a new laptop case, upgrading a battery, buying new memory cards
[PRO TIP]: see if you can trade in an older model device, such as a phone or computer for rebate money or credit towards a new device upgrade.
Ensure all of your devices have a proper home within your home.
Clear out designated drawers or shelves for any tech or gear
i.e. cameras & accessories, cables chargers, recording equipment
Invest in extra storage space if needed
[PRO TIP]: Try searching on secondhand marketplaces or asking within your own community for any additional storage before resorting to buying from bigger stores or Amazon
Note:
Everything holds energy or vibration, and these electronic devices are directly associated with power, electricity, and batteries. Since energy is neither created nor destroyed, the physical presence of your technology [even in a broken or idle state] can subconsciously drain your own energy.
CONGRATS!
We’ve completed day 02’s practice
Let’s take 3 deep breaths together and drink a glass of water because we deserve it :) thank you for honoring yourself by continuing along in this challenge!
JOURNAL reflection BONUS
This is a great time to reflect in your journal on how today’s routine + practice unfolded for you.
Did you stumble upon a forgotten, yet beautiful moment from your past?
Were there any memories that were difficult to let go of? Did you experience any challenges in organizing or releasing?
Recall the emotions you wanted to feel at the beginning of the day, how do you feel now?
