time for a spiritual cleanse.
let’s break it down
PART ONE: contact cleanse
PART TWO: social media detox
PART THREE: soul care
Note:
You might find today’s practice a bit more challenging than the past two days as we are now approaching the aspect of life that many people tend to avoid or escape from when out of holistic alignment—themselves. Accountability, confrontation, constructive criticism, and potential cord cutting will be encouraged today. Please be gentle with yourself and listen to your intuition when it comes to who your spirit tells you to set boundaries with or ultimately release from your access altogether.
Today we’re focusing on the synergy between our inner + outer worlds so that we can understand how this relationship directly impacts our spiritual wellbeing. Practicing mindful awareness in our outward/social connections, expressing daily gratitude for all of life’s current blessings—including our very selves, and using positive affirmations to grow our self-love and confidence can make all the difference. Implementing tangible sacred rituals or cleanses on a routinely basis as a form of self-care is also a great way to physically reset your sense of peace and alignment.
part one // contact cleanse
*Note: Make sure to hydrate & nourish your body with another meal, and set a specific intention for this practice before you begin!
Start with cleansing your contacts:
Reflect your current social circle
Who are the people you surround yourself around most?
How do they make you feel?
Do they treat you the way you want to be treated?
Do you feel genuinely loved, supported, and cared for by them?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, send gratitude to at least one of those people, and in this moment, let them know how much you appreciate them either through text, message, or call!
If you answered no to any of these questions, reflect on why this may be by asking yourself the following questions:
Are you associating with people who are out of alignment with your values, purpose, and spirit?
Do they engage in toxic thinking, habits, behaviors?
Do your goals, practices, and paths feel uncomplimentary?
Be mindful of the kind of energy you surround yourself with, as well as who has access to your own!
Practice healthy communication for resolution and set boundaries:
If there are any unresolved conflicts or unspoken emotions or general tension between you and someone you’d like to improve your relationship with, try to reach out to them to intentionally communicate any boundaries and compromise/resolutions
If you feel a bit nervous about going about this, re-listen to today’s affirmation meditation and trust that the people who genuinely love and care about you value your relationship and want to continue growing together.
[PRO TIP]: When communicating how someone has made you feel or affected you, try using “I feel” statements to lessen tones of accusation or blame towards the other person.
i.e. “I feel hurt by…” vs “You hurt me when…”
Remember to communicate your boundaries respectfully and express gratitude whenever your feelings and emotions are acknowledged with an open heart and met with grace/compassion
If you need to let go of any relationships that do not serve you, clearly communicate your intentions and honor your decision.
As 2021 has already come to a close, so should doors of access to you! No more toxic cycles!
Make sure to delete [or if necessary, block] any contacts that are not moving forward with you in 2022, as well as delete any unneeded conversations that may be lingering on your phone, DMs or email.
Note:
It also important to look within [introspection], and see if you may be playing a part in any of the suffering or disconnection in these relationships. Do you need to apologize to anyone or communicate more clearly how someone may have hurt you? Assess where you can make change within yourself, and take action!
part two // social media detox
Take a look at your “friends” + “following” lists across different platforms.
How do these people and the content they post make you feel?
Do you feel inspired, motivated, and uplifted when they show up on your timeline?
Do you feel envy or jealousy when you see their posts and the digital curation of their lives?
Would you still follow these people regardless of your personal association with them, or do you feel obligated in any way to follow them?
Unfollow, block or remove anyone who does not feel in alignment with your values, dreams, or goals.
Set the intention moving forward to only follow people who wholeheartedly resonate with your own authenticity and reflect media + content that you actually wish to see pop up on your feed regularly.
[BONUS]: For anyone you do feel aligned with, try commenting something positive on one of their recent posts or leaving them a DM describing their impact on you :)
part three // soul care
SELF SMUDGE:
If you have any smudging herbs, cleanse your entire body/auric field
This is best if done outside or with a window open so the energy can be released.
Affirm: “I release any negative, dark, or stagnant energy from my presence. I invite only loving, positive, and beautiful energy into my energy field."
SACRED BATH OR SHOWER:
Set the ambience and intention for your environment:
Smudge the bathroom to invoke the clearing element of air
Physically clean your tub/shower to prepare cleansing flow for the element of water
Light candles or incense to bring warmth and light from the element of fire
Place healing crystals or plants around your tub/shower to raise the vibration of your experience through the element of earth
Sacred Bath Ritual:
If you have these ingredients, add to running bathwater:
1 cup of your choice of epsom salt, sea salt or Himalayan pink salt
Dried or fresh flowers/herbs
A few drops of essential oil [mix this well into the water to prevent a high concentration of oil floating in the water from burning your skin]
Set an intention for holistic physical, mental and spiritual healing and resetting.
While in the tub, envision a white light around you, and allow any worries, anxieties, or troubles to "melt away” into the water
After soaking for at least 30 minutes, mindfully watch the water go down the drain as you metaphorically release your attachment to any of these things that no longer serve you
Sacred Shower Ritual:
Set an intention for holistic physical, mental and spiritual healing and resetting.
Envision a white light around you, and imagine that anything which did not serve you from last year is instantly washing down the drain.
Indulge in the comforting warmth of the water + steam with full presence as it holistically cleanses you
[PRO TIP]: If you find yourself feeling overwhelmed or bothered by something in particular to the point of tears—crying in the shower is an extremely powerful way to expel lower vibrational energy by releasing through multiple forms of water at once.
NOTE:
Water is extremely cleansing—mentally, physically, and spiritually—and holds great symbolism for rebirth & purification in most religions.
CONGRATS!
We’ve completed day 03’s practice
Let’s take 3 deep breaths together and share another celebratory glass of water because we deserve it :) Infinite gratitude for honoring your spiritual wellbeing today!
JOURNAL reflection BONUS
This is a great time to reflect in your journal on how today’s routine + practice unfolded for you.
Did you feel called to let go of any people or relationships from this year that surprised you?
How did it feel to confront a friend about something they did that upset you? To block or delete certain contacts or conversations from your past?
Have you ever taken a “spiritual bath or shower” before? How was it for you?
