daily rise ritual

STEP 01 // GROUND

  • At the start of your day, before getting out of bed, take three mindful breaths. With your eyes closed, quietly think of three emotions you’d like to feel today, [i.e., happy, accomplished, energized, peaceful], and express three things you are grateful for in that very moment. Make your bed as soon as you get up.

  • MINDFUL MOVEMENT: Gently stretch your body for 5 minutes, and either dance to a song [or few] that makes you feel good, do a light workout or yoga flow, or go for a mindful 10 minute walk outside.

  • Take care of your daily morning hygiene routine [i.e brush teeth, skincare, or shower/bathe].

  • Head to the kitchen, drink a glass of water, and prepare to nourish your body for the day!

STEP 02 // NOURISH

  • In the kitchen, prepare a cup of tea or hot water with citrus. Take your time and enjoy each step of the process.

  • Try to use all 5 senses during this time: sight, sound, smell, taste and touch.

  • As you wait for your drink to cool down, take three deep, mindful breaths at a time—slowly inhaling and exhaling through the nose.

  • Once your tea has cooled, find a cozy spot to sit and observe your surroundings as you drink.

  • Sip slowly, and begin to bring mindful awareness to your environment. Silently point out things that activate any of the 5 senses [i.e., the sunlight peaking through your window, music playing from the other room, the smell of breakfast being prepared by someone else in your home]

  • Continue this process until your drink is finished, and nourish your body with a healthy, wholesome meal, such as a fresh fruit smoothie or açai bowl, avocado toast with fresh herbs and cherry tomatoes, whole grain toast with nut butter, agave drizzle & sliced bananas, or oatmeal with cinnamon and fresh berries].

  • Make sure to continue to hydrate and nourish your body throughout the rest of the day, especially before getting into each day’s focused practice!
